Airline Security

Direct from the TSA’s website – new rules regarding carry-on baggage:

All liquids are banned, as well as most toilerties (including includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency).

  • Passengers traveling with infants may bring baby formula.
  • Prescription medicine that matches the passenger’s name.
  • Essential non-prescription medicines such as insulin are permitted.

Despite mixed reports I have heard, there does not appear to be a ban on carry-on luggage (as is the case in some foreign airports).  Also, TSA continues to allow laptop computers, cell phones and other electronic items.

It appears that there will be many more hand searches of bags (= longer lines), as well as additional bag checks at the gate immediately prior to boarding the plane.
